This term in Lighthouse Class...
This half term, our history-based topic is ‘Eyewitness: Conquering 1066’. We will look at Anglo-Saxon England, the Battle of Hastings, Kings William, Harold and Harold Hardradar, and why this was such an important event in English history.
Linked to this in English, our work will be focused around Anglo-Saxons, both rich and poor, with outcomes including:
· Writing a diary entry as a Saxon peasant.
· Writing an biography for Harold Godwinson
· Writing a newspaper report on the Battle of Hastings.

In maths, we will spend the half term looking at position and movement of shapes, as well as measurement.
In our science lessons, we will be focused on chemistry, and doing a number of experiments examining the properties and changes in materials. This will include looking at solubility, absorption and changes in state.
PE continues on Thursdays and Fridays this half term, with our P.E. focus being on tennis, so please send your children to school in their PE kits on these days.
Home-learning will be given out on Fridays, and will be a variety of Literacy, Maths and History based learning. Home-learning is due by the following Friday.
